Earlier in September, FBR undertook initial welding trials with Mantis™, our high-deposition, large-scale welding robot.

Using a twin-wire welding process, these early trials focused on developing the process parameters required to achieve consistent weld profiles.

In this video, FBR CEO Mark Pivac takes a close look at some of Mantis™'s first welds and explains the work underway to optimise the process.

The welds shown here were early results, rather than the finished product. Since this footage was recorded on 2 September, further trials have continued to improve the process.

We're now looking forward to presenting Mantis™ at Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) very soon.
