Clarification of unaffiliated emails sent by a third party

Dear FBR Shareholders,

Many of you will have received an email from a privately run email address NOT AFFILIATED WITH FBR IN ANY WAY, FBRinvestors@gmail.com.

This email includes a logo purporting to be from “FBR Retail Shareholder Group”, and asks for shareholders to confirm current confidential shareholder data.

FBR URGES SHAREHOLDERS NOT TO HAND OVER CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO THE EMAIL.

A HIN/SRN IS A UNIQUE IDENTIFIER SIMILAR TO A TAX FILE NUMBER AND IS PROTECTED UNDER THE PRIVACY ACT. A HIN RELATES TO YOUR SHARE PORTFOLIO, NOT JUST YOUR FBR SHAREHOLDING.

There is no need to “update your details” with this private email address. The data mentioned in the email is highly confidential and the distributor of the email is circumventing the legal process available to obtain some of the information they have requested. The person who has distributed the email is fully aware of this process, having relied on it once before.

The person who has distributed the email is also fully aware of the confidentiality of HIN/SRN numbers, after a request made directly to the company in October was refused with an explanation of why we would not provide HIN/SRN numbers.

FBR is investigating legal options regarding this email and the mention of a future email in which “you will receive a link to review and confirm your shareholder information online,” and will provide copies of the email to the relevant authorities.

Please do not hand over your confidential data to a third party – THE EMAIL IS NOT FROM ANYONE REPRESENTING FBR OR AFFILIATED WITH FBR IN ANY WAY.

If you have already responded to the email by sharing your confidential data with the sender, please contact me on investor@fbr.com.au and I will assist you with next steps. Please contact me via email rather than by phone as I am often unable to answer phone calls due to availability but I will respond to emails as quickly as I can for those affected by this issue.

Kind regards,

Kiel Chivers
Chief Operating Officer
